A Pop-Up Gaeltacht (tob-Ghaeltacht) is an informal gathering of Irish speakers, often held in pubs or cafés, designed to create a vibrant, Irish-speaking environment outside traditional, rural Gaeltacht regions.

  • Atmosphere: These events are designed to be relaxed, friendly, and low-pressure. Unlike formal classes, the focus is on social immersion and "the craic".

  • Inclusivity: They welcome everyone from native speakers (líofa) to those with just a "cúpla focal" (a few words) or even absolute beginners. We even provide handy phrase sheets or mini-lessons to help beginners get started.

  • Bring yourself and be prepared to speak Irish.

  • Have a pen or pencil handy, and some money for food and drink!

Originating in Dublin in 2017, these social meetups welcome all proficiency levels to chat, drink, and socialise exclusively in Irish.
