A traditional Irish session (seisiún) is an informal, acoustic gathering of musicians playing and singing Irish traditional music, focusing on community and shared heritage rather than formal performance.

• The "Craic": Sessions are as much about camaraderie, conversation, and fun (the craic) as they are about the music. It is a gathering of friends and strangers, often in a pub, that creates a welcoming environment.

• Informal: Musicians sit in a circle and share music, stories, and songs together. This creates a sense of fellowship rather than a professional performance.

• Acoustic Instruments: Traditional instruments shine, including the fiddle, flute, tin whistle, accordion, concertina, uilleann pipes, and tenor banjo.

• Driving Rhythms: Irish music is characterized by a "jovial, driving beat" that is both toe-tapping and emotionally uplifting.

• Inclusivity: Many sessions are "open," meaning that, provided they know the music and abide by etiquette, musicians of varying skill levels can join in. Our "slow session" has made this even more accessible for beginners.
